Hedgie cries BS over Yahoo! CEO’s degree



New Yahoo! CEO Scott Thompson has been called out for faking his college credentials.

Activist investor Dan Loeb ramped up his battle for Yahoo! board seats yesterday by insinuating Thompson lied about having a computer science degree and questioning whether he was fit to lead the struggling Internet company according to a NY Post account

“If Mr. Thompson embellished his academic credentials, we think that it 1) undermines his credibility as a technology expert and 2) reflects poorly on the character of the CEO who has been tasked with leading Yahoo! at this critical juncture,” Loeb’s hedge fund Third Point said in a statement. “Now more than ever, Yahoo! investors need a trustworthy CEO.”

In company filings and on websites, Thompson’s educational background refers numerous times to a computer science degree from Stonehill College, when the sheepskin was for accounting.
Third Point discovered the discrepancy while reviewing Thompson’s work history at other Web companies like eBay and PayPal…..
