Giving Others a Chance At the American Dream


From the Wall St Journal: Leon G. Cooperman, chairman and chief executive of Omega Advisors, a New York hedge fund, says he's lived the American dream.   The son of a plumber, Mr. Cooperman grew up in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx. He went to P.S. 75 elementary school, Morris High School and studied chemistry, math and physics at Hunter College. The cost: $24 a semester.

"A hell of a bargain," he says. He met his wife, Toby, in French class, and the two have been married since 1964.

While Mr. Cooperman, 69 years old, is quick to say that he's had good fortune ..
