Occupy Wall Street faces challenges

There's a lot working against the Occupy Wall Street movement right now according to a fiercefinance report. As the New York encampment goes, so go all the satellite encampments that have sprung up all over the country. It's fair to say right now that there's plenty of reason to ponder whether the movement has crested as a public phenomena. Some are now questioning whether the New York camp can last the winter. With snow already appearing, the protestors face more challenges, and tensions are starting to fray all over again.

One guy really wigged out in a McDonalds. More arrests have been made. While the protestors were able to secure three portable toilets, conditions remain grimy at best. Security remains an issue, especially for females, in the wake of several assault incidents. One commentator has noted that the media seems less interested now that the novelty has worn off, and that Google searches have leveled off.

With that said, the movement still has $500,000 and plenty of resolve. We may be hitting a critical moment. The big issue for many is whether the protests actually did anything. In some ways, the protest had the potential to become Tea Party-like in its ability galvanize, but it remains to be seen whether this Tea Party on the left will have an similar significance on the national political discussion….
