FDIC's 'Problem List' Shrinks for First Time Since 2006

The Wall St Journal reports that the number of U.S. banks classified as troubled dropped for the first time in nearly five years and the industry posted its eighth-consecutive profitable quarter.

In its quarterly report on the health of the nation's banking system, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said Tuesday that 865 of the nation's 7,513 banks were on its "problem list" at the end of June.
