The Wall St Journal writes: What's in a name like iPad? According to a cache of documents that includes emails and a contract, Apple Inc. agreed more than two years ago to buy rights to the iPad trademark in a number of countries from Proview International Holdings Ltd. The price: £35,000 ($55,494 at current exchange rates).
The documents, reviewed by Dow Jones Newswires, would seem to bolster Apple's contention that it purchased rights to the iPad name from Proview—a key issue in a dispute between the companies.
But Proview declared Friday that it's sticking by its claim that it still owns the trademark in China…
