Heads Up. A German Satellite Could Bonk Someone On The Head This Weekend

You don’t already have enough on your mind? According to Consumerist, the sky could fall sometime within the next few days. German authorities say the broken-down ROSAT satellite, which once mapped stars and studied X-rays, will plunge into the Americas sometime between Friday and Tuesday. They've lost communication with the device so there's no way of knowing exactly when or where it will hit.

Live Science reports the 2.4-metric ton observatory is expected to break apart upon re-entry, splitting into 1.7 metric tons of junk that could plunge into the planet's surface.

Apparently there is a 1 in 2,000 chance someone will get hit by this thing. So remember what you learned from South Park, people. Duck and cover.
