The NY Post reports that fears of another terror attack
gripped Ground Zero-area workers yesterday — because a numbskull at a
financial-services firm had a “novelty” grenade delivered to his office at the
World Financial Center, forcing the evacuation of two buildings.
The person who ordered the gag gift — which was mounted on a
plaque that read, “Complaint Department, please take a number” (the number is
attached to the grenade’s pin) — works for the Japanese investment bank Nomura
Holdings, whose Manhattan location is the company’s American headquarters.
“A Nomura employee was responsible for bringing an
inappropriate item into the building and that person has been placed on
administrative leave pending an internal investigation,” a Nomura spokesman
said. The company declined to identify the prankster or his position at the
company.
