Portfolio Manager sues Playboy model for allegedly knicking $80K

A Stamford investment manager is suing a former German Playboy model, saying she stole $80,000 from him after they broke up four years ago. According to stamfordadvocate Andrew Oberwager, a 36-year-old portfolio manager from Stamford, is suing his ex-girlfriend, Karolina Stefanski, 33, accusing her of filling out a blank check for $80,000 following an acrimonious break-up. A trial in their civil lawsuit began Tuesday at state Superior Court in Stamford, and their lawyers are asking a judge to decide the case instead of a jury.

Attorney Kurosh Marjani is arguing that Stefanski had no authority to write the check. It was meant to pay for household expenses, Oberwager testified Tuesday. He gave her the check 2 1/2 years before their January 2007 break-up, the time when he first noticed $80,000 missing from his bank account…
