Poach of the Day: Wells Fargo Hires Deutsche McQuilkin for Industrials M&A

Wells Fargo & Co. hired Kevin McQuilkin from Deutsche Bank AG to oversee mergers and acquisitions for industrial companies as the fourth-largest U.S. lender expands its investment bank.

McQuilkin, 50, joined in New York last month and was previously head of metals and mining investment banking at Deutsche Bank, San Francisco-based Wells Fargo said today in a statement.

Wells Fargo is bolstering the investment-banking unit acquired as part of the takeover of Wachovia Corp. in 2008. Former Chairman Richard Kovacevich said in a November 2009 speech at the Stanford Graduate School of Business that Wells Fargo's investment bank will be "in the top five within the next few years....
