From Money: Leaning in may work for women in the world of tech. But if
you're a woman who wants to balance trading and a family, one hedge fund
manager says that's not possible.
"You will never see as many great women investors or traders as
men. Period. End of story," said billionaire Paul Tudor Jones at the University of Virginia 's spring investing symposium
last month.
The video of the event, which was off the record, was
obtained by The Washington Post through a Freedom of Information Act
request. Children are the ultimate
career killer for female traders, Jones said. He specifically alluded to
breastfeeding as a reason why a mother cannot, according to him, be a good
trader.
"As soon as that baby's lips touch that girl's bosom,
forget it," he said. "Every single investment idea. Every desire to
understand what's going to make this go up or go down is going to be
overwhelmed by the most beautiful experience, which a man will never share
about a mode of connection between that mother and baby….."
