Out of Raj Rajaratnam Scandal and Wall St. Excess, a Book

According to the NY Times' Dealbook: A former trader at the Galleon Group has signed an agreement with Crown Business, a division of Random House, to publish a memoir about his career on Wall Street and time spent working for Raj Rajaratnam, the head of Galleon who was convicted of running a huge insider trading conspiracy.

Turney Duff, a former trader at Morgan Stanley and Galleon, is writing “The Buy Side,” which Crown describes as “a journey through the trading underworld as well as a look at after-hours Wall Street, where sex and drugs are the quid pro quo in a culture in which a billion isn’t enough.” The deal is said to be worth more than $250,000, according to a report in PublishersMarketplace. Mr. Duff’s agent, Lisa Leshne at the Leshne Agency, confirmed the sale. Rick Horgan at Crown acquired the title.

News of Mr. Duff’s book comes as Mr. Rajaratnam reported to a federal penitentiary in Ayer, Mass., on Monday to begin serving an 11-year prison sentence, the longest term to date for insider trading. He surrendered to the Bureau of Prisons at the Federal Medical Center Devens at about 12:30 p.m, according to a Bureau of Prisons spokesman.
