Look carefully. Recognize the bald guy in the center of the photo? According to the gothamist The Rockaways were devastated by
Hurricane Sandy, and relief efforts are only beginning to scratch the surface
of the damage. Many volunteer groups have been heading there, and this past
weekend, a Team Rubicon group included Mr. Vampire Squid himself, Goldman Sachs
CEO Lloyd Blankfein.
Goldman Sachs Tweeted this morning, "ROCKAWAYS PHOTO:
Blankfein & Jake Wood of @TeamRubicon. 2 of 2,0000 volunteers working
Saturday to help #Sandy victims." Business Insider points out that Goldman
did donate $10 million for Sandy relief efforts and opened its doors to fellow
Battery park businesses and residents to charge their phones in their building,
which had back-up generators (of course).
Goldman Sachs, which also has a building in Jersey City, has
also been involved in NJ relief efforts.
