Wait…Hillary Clinton Wants to Be President ... of the World Bank?

When people used to relentlessly badger Hillary Clinton about whether she might run for president again after stepping down as Secretary of State at the end of Obama's (first?) term, she'd often tell them that, no, she won't, because she longs to return to a more private, more relaxing life — the kind she hasn't had since Bill Clinton ran for governor of Arkansas over 30 years ago. As she told PBS in January of 2010:

"There are so many things I'm interested in, really going back to private life and spending time reading and writing and maybe teaching. Maybe some personal travel — not the kind of travel where you bring a couple of hundred people with you."

Sounds lovely. But Reuters is reporting that Clinton is thinking of going a much different route: She wants to be the president of the World Bank, an international organization that gives loans to developing countries.

Associates say Clinton has expressed interest in having the World Bank job should the Bank's current president, Robert Zoellick, leave at the end of his term, in the middle of 2012....
